Wayne Shorter, who is now 87, is one of the last two great masters of the tenor saxophone that dominated the Golden Age of Jazz music. (The other is 90-years old Sonny Rollins.) When Mr. Shorter joined Wynton Marsalis and the superbly talented Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra for three nights of music making on May 14-16, 2015, he was 81 years old. The digital audio recording machines captured this outstanding document that is a recap of the great man’s journey that had already spanned six decades.
As always, I do not have the gift of verbal description of music. One phrase will suffice: Essential top tier Jazz.” Just listen for yourself. Very highly recommended.
