Alot has been said about the collapse of once a great kingdom in Karo Karungi. Ever since the revival of kingdoms by the President of Uganda Yoweli Kaguta Museveni on coming to power, Ankole - his own kingdom of origin never received their royal drums bagyendanwa.
This Kingdom has since had a number of kings but who are only titular. Alot of effort has been in place to revive it and have a fully functional administration and influence like the neighbouring Buganda, Tooro, Bunyoro, to name but a few and all has gone to waste.
Putting the reasons for aside, the collupse was a positive problem.
In the first place, the discriminative pastoralist Hima who regarded themselves as the royals have now associated with the formerly inferior agricultural Bairu who we're regarded as servants to the kingdom. The intermarriages harnessed their cooperation and gave birth to the current development that other people think is political.
Secondly, people in Ankole realized that modernisation and globalisation should be of focus than conservative cultural occupations that drew lines between them instead of working together. This has made them easily blend with other tribes like Banyarwanda whose working and innovative heritage has been at interplay in the region.
The culture, however has remained evident but not taking it at the fore front like in other kingdoms. It will always be remembered that the line between the Hima and the Bairu is currently very thin due adoption of each other's activities.
