This is Soul-Jazz led by one of the greatest masters of the genre. The bluesy, laid-back playing makes one feel good. Very good! Turrentine blows the sax with grace and joy. Les McCann’s piano is sweet and dispensed without dominating the proceedings. The bassist and drummer offer very solid support that makes this one of the finest Blue Notes. This is not a record to listen to on a cellphone or computer. A good home stereo system is highly recommended if one wants to enjoy the excellent sound. An excellent Tone Poet reissue that is very highly recommended.
