Lalo Symphonie Espagnole: timeless beauty of the violin By Muniini K. Mulera My Kind of Music Classical MusicAugust 8, 20160 Back to Home Composer: Edouard Lalo 1823-1892), Frenchman Music: Symphonie Espagnole in D Minor, Op. 21 This is a violin concerto, composed in 1874. A timeless, beautiful work, with a lot of Spanish sounds. Exquisitely sweet when played by the masters. I first heard this work in 1994, on a recording with Heryk Szering as the soloist. I never tire of of it. Many choices available. My personal top 3 choices: No. 1 Heryk Szering with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by Walter Hendl (RCA) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9gdmVoxbP8 No. 2 Leonid Kogan with the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Kyril Kondrashin (Recorded 1959) DECCA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7-ZiMcLQU0 No 3.
